Tonight before dark, I asked the kids if they wanted to go help me pick some okra from the garden. I didn’t realize how much fun we would have for those fifteen minutes.
While I worked on thinning my newly sprouted lettuce, broccoli, spinach, and cabbage, Drew took my bucket and started harvesting peppers.
Not to be excluded in the fun, Alyssa went inside and asked her daddy for another bucket. Then she started picking basil.
When they came in, Alyssa started laying her basil on her play kitchen’s oven. I guess she wanted to dry it? 🙂
Before we told them they can’t play with real food, I had to take this photo of Drew putting his peppers in a “pot.”
And I taught both of them how to wash their produce.
I never thought a quick garden trip would be so much fun for them! Hopefully they will be good helpers next spring when my garden will be much larger! 🙂
